For this drawing, I started from the original cover and built everything else around it. The scene depicts the death of Josman's feelings, a theme that runs throughout the project. I embodied them as an angel, for the idea of purity and sincere emotion. We see it carried away by death while Josman stays on the shore, grieving, his roses burning — a nod to the feature with Laylow.
